A few hardy staff members/PhD students braved the elements on Sunday 30 November to represent the department at MOTAT’S STEM Fair. Normally, this event attracts in excess of 3,000 visitors. However, the weather was not on our side with heavy rain persisting all day. Despite this, around 800 visitors passed through the turnstile and were inspired and engaged by a wide range of scientific and technological displays and activities. Surprisingly for us, our most popular activity with the younger age groups was the Galton board - with many parents and teachers finding ‘A Day in the Life of Americans’ visualisation, by Flowing Data, mesmerising.
