Principal investigator Assoc. Prof. Simon Harris’ Marsden Fund proposal, 22-UOA-052, entitled ‘Genealogies of samples of individuals selected at random from stochastic populations: probabilistic structure and applications’ was successful in 2022 round after being assessed by the Mathematical and Information Sciences panel. The recommended total funding $713,000 (excl. GST) for the three-year project will include funding for a 2 year postdoctoral researcher in probability theory based at the university of Auckland. Associate investigators also involved on the project are Jesse Goodman, also in the Statistics department at UoA, Juan Carlos Pardo (CIMAT, Mexico), Sandra Palau (UNAM, Mexico) and Samuel Johnston (Kings College, UK).
